Pietra Grey Marble

Lashotor or Pietra Gray Marble is One of the most well-known marbles in Iran, which is extracted from more than 80 quarries of Lashotor region located in the south of Isfahan. This marble, which has its own beauty, has a gray background with white veins passing through it. Water absorption and porosity of this stone is limited and its resistance is relatively high. Due to its beauty and quality, this stone is used for floor and wall designs, especially in public places, lobbies and bathrooms, also it used for outdoors.
This marble is one of the types of sedimentary stones that have carbonate material. In other words, most of this marble is composed of the mineral calcite (calcium carbonate). The predominant dark color in this stone is due to the presence of organic and carbonaceous by-products. But one of the market characteristics of this stone is the presence of fractures that are usually filled with white materials such as calcite or secondary quartz. These veins have given unmistakable beauty to the marble.
Sorting of this marble is usually based on the background color and its veins. The background color of this marble is from light gray to dark gray (close to black). The veins of this marble are mostly white, but in some cases, red veins also appear in the stone, Also, these veins are in different forms.
generally those marbles with dark background color and less, thin and straight veins are among the better sorts of this marble.
